Editor’s note: We happened to be filming this piece during the GOP’s halt on SNAP benefit processing. Despite it all, it was genuinely moving to see so many people being taken care of. This is our favorite still.
Our client leads a consulting firm and brought us in to give visual dimension to a grant-writing and distribution project they were wrapping up. We partnered with the City of Bessemer, the Birmingham Business League, and ARPA to bring the story to life.
We were asked to create a cinematic, unconcealed, yet emotionally captivating piece that would illuminate the hardship faced by citizens in need of these funds, while also honoring their pride and humanity. We filmed across housing projects, diners, police stations, and local businesses.
Our approach was to give the viewer a visceral seat in the journey. To do that, we relied primarily on handheld shots with longer takes and organic camera movement, allowing the story to breathe and feel lived-in.

We were brought on by one of the most dynamic men of this generation, Dr. Kendell Jno-Finn, founder of M3 Endeavors. What he has built is quickly becoming one of the most impressive sports and performance spaces in the Southeast.
Our task was to distill that raw ergonomic energy into fleeting moments—small windows that allow a focused audience of achievers to peer inside the chest of a smiling man relentlessly chasing excellence, day after day.
Our approach was simple: let the story tell itself. Stripped-down color, hard cuts, and kinetic movement—captured as if Dr. Jno-Finn were documenting the process in a scratchpad, journaling in real time.
The energy felt honest. Unforced. We produced and mastered the quiet score, carefully treating the audio to mirror that sincerity and restraint.
